About me

Since I was a little kid and didn’t have to go to school I used to be taken out to the farm land by my father. Outside the city centres there is a hidden world made of colors, fragrances and ancient rituals.

The hard work is there, that is true, but the nature is still able to enchant with her beauties which keep repeating and renewing themselves.

I have been away from these places for ten years. I have lived and worked abroad. I have met wonderful people and seen beautiful lands.

But my places have never left my thoughts.

Now I am back here where I was born.

Every single day I commit myself in doing something which I strongly believe being nice and useful to everyone: farming responsibly and producing high quality extra virgin olive oil.

Feel free to drop me a line and to become a friend of Coltivarti

How it all started

This is…a family business

Nonno Marco was born in the 1800′ in the agricultural town of Palo del Colle nearby the market city of Bari, Southern Italy. He had nothing but his muscles and brains and one dream: to farm his own land. Nonno Marco kept working hard within his comunity. His experience in farming grew fast and his passion drove him faster.

He was still a young man when his dream came true and was able to buy the first piece of land.

That passion of Nonno Marco for farming and deliver the best is in his family still.

Come and visit us. In every stone, every tree, every local food you will catch sight of our ancient proud of working the land. Mostly you will spot it in the eyes of our people which are keeping the arts of cultivating alive.

My town

Palo del Colle: the town and its people

As the italian name suggests we are on the top of a hill at the sea-level of 177m and the Adriatic sea is only 10km away from us. The location contributes to our mild winter weather and to summers which are not overly humid. The result is a climate which is one of our best allies in the agricultural system and in the delivery of high level products from the land.

The town was inhabited long time before the Roman Age as many findings have confirmed. During the Middle Ages Palo del Colle has witnessed the builing of the Old Town with its walls as well as a Romanic Cathedral. Our castle was later embodied in the palace of the Filomarino della Rocca prince family and now faces Piazza Santa Croce. The piazza is huge and it has always been the heart of our social, political and agricultural life. We are also very proud of the Baroque Purgatory church and its remarkable paintings as well as the Old Bell Tower which is one of the tallest in the area.

Or people are renowned for their simple life and their dedication to work. We are hearty and friendly with a natual vocation to incredibly warm welcome. Trust me, our hospitality reaches its top when you are our guests for dining!
